CHAPTER I • MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE

Born in a garage.
Perfected for the track.

In 2003, Alan Lindgren of Speed of Sound LLC in Memphis set out to solve a problem every serious Mustang owner faced: ugly, poorly integrated gauge pods that ruined the clean interior lines of their cars.

His solution was revolutionary. Instead of bolting cheap plastic pods onto the pillar, he replaced the entire factory A-pillar with a precision-engineered piece that looked like it came straight from Ford — only better. Gauges were perfectly angled toward the driver. Texture and color matched OEM perfectly. Fitment was flawless.

The result? The Speed of Sound Gauge Pod became the gold standard. It earned US Design Patent D529,422. It was installed in cars across 44+ countries. Forum legends were born.

Original Innovation A-Pillar Gauge Pods
Core Philosophy "Fanatical attention to detail"
Why They Stopped Ford discontinued OEM pillars
WHAT MADE THEM SPECIAL

Why owners still hunt them
on forums years later.

OEM+ Integration

Full pillar replacement using genuine Ford cores. Perfect color, texture, and fit. Looked factory — performed like a race car part.

Driver-Centric Ergonomics

Gauges canted toward the driver at the perfect angle. No more craning your neck. Critical data exactly where your eyes want it.

Built Like a Tank

Thick, durable construction that survived track days, hot parking lots, and years of abuse. Many still look brand new today.

Paired perfectly with Aeroforce Interceptors, Autometer, Prosport, and every serious gauge on the market.

THE HARD TRUTH

They stopped making them.
But the demand never died.

Ford eventually discontinued the replacement A-pillars that Speed of Sound used as the foundation for every pod. Without cores, production ended. Used pods now trade hands for serious money on SVTPerformance, SN95Forums, and Facebook groups.
